Role of EnovArk

  • Identify available facilities
  • Accompany the creators of the application

GridAlert is an innovative application developed in Valais, with the help of EnovArk. It aims to involve consumers in energy management. It enables targeted communication between distribution network operators (DSOs) and customers, in order to carry out network load shedding on a participatory and non-intrusive basis. Initial tests are underway at OIKEN, in the Sion and Sierre region.

The GridAlert application offers a first application related to shortage management, which can help to avoid quotas and load shedding planned in the framework of OSTRAL. In the event of a shortage, it offers a privileged and targeted information channel for customers.

The second application of GridAlert concerns consumption management. It allows consumers to actively participate in the optimisation of balancing energy, by receiving personalised alerts.

Finally, the consumer will receive information on the country’s energy data in real time, a news feed and energy tips from the region.

It is possible for DSOs to target consumers to be “activated” by neighbourhood or by region.

A gamification aspect will be introduced to make the application and participation fun and attractive.

Also for companies

GridAlert also offers a dedicated portal for businesses, which allows alerts to be sent to targeted groups of customers, data on customer interaction, as well as the creation of customer groups according to their location and voltage level.

The application is functional and now needs to move to a full-scale field test to validate the technical options and the success of the participatory approach. This test is currently being carried out in collaboration with OIKEN.
